What you should be feeding your leopard gecko in order to raise healthy happy Gecko.
Now we have many posts on my blog about feeding your gecko. but have never made a full-on comprehensive gecko feeding guide since proper gecko nutrition is absolutely vital to maintain your gecko's health. I figured now would be a really good time to finally make this post.
First of all, leprechaun goes are carnivores and more specifically their insectivores what this means is that your gecko's diet should solely be comprised of insects like crickets my arms dubia roaches now occasionally while scrolling through the web you might see geckos eating other things such as smaller lizards pinky mice or even vegetables however none of those options are healthy or necessary
I fed mostly Golota crickets and only fed me orbs occasionally this is because crickets are supposed to be higher in nutritional value and easier to digest according to numerous reptile breeders.
of course, this isn't to say that mealworms are bad for geckos my arms are perfectly fine as a food source and many breeders choose to use only mealworms since there much more convenient to maintain and feed crickets required some pretty heavy maintenance.
as you need to feed them provide them with humidity spots to hide and even with optimal conditions they still die all the time for no reason whatsoever or maybe I am just bad at rising them but I find that if I buy a hundred crickets at least ten will die before I get to feed them.
you can just leave me on your fridge and take them out to feed your gecko so they're much lower maintenance you can also feed them faster since your gecko doesn't have to run around and catch them that's why recently
I've switched Godzilla's diet to two-thirds of yours and the third got loaded crickets new herbs are just so easier to feed and now that I'm really busy with my job and some of my hobbies it leaves me with a lot more time to do other things.
I also sometimes need my brothers to feed Godzilla when I'm not at home and dealing with mealworms it's much easier than dealing with crickets for people who are kind of disgusted by insects like my mom.
I still feed crickets to ensure that Godzilla has come to his diet and that he is the nutrients he needs so to sum this all up what should you be feeding your gecko as long as you're feeding a healthy variety of feeder insects like crickets me arms dubia
you will find none of the common feeder insects are bad choices and while some may be healthier if your gecko all of them are perfectly fine and many geckos have been raised for years on diets comprised of only one it's also really important to provide electric echo with a calcium supplement as can develop the metabolic disease if they have a calcium deficiency.
if you are feeding crickets you can simply duster crickets in the calcium powder once a week or alternatively, you can leave the bulb calcium in there for a few days .
at a time and your gecko will look it by themselves just don't leave the bowl in there for too long as leprechaun coats can also get too much of it not to mention the fact that your get cold probably. step in it and get calcium all over the substrate and if you using a red D carpet like me those stains can be pretty annoying to clean well.
